About
Feedtest
Feedtest is situated in the part of the Division of Future Farming Systems
Research (FFSR) and lie in the Environmental Health and Chemistry platform.
We now have offices operating out of the DPIWE Seed Testing laboratory
in Launceston, Tasmania and the SARDI’s Pig and Poultry Production
Institute (SARDI) at Roseworthy in South Australia.
Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR)
Feedtest,
a pioneer in the use of Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) for feed testing
in Australia and offers a three-day turnaround time for most analyses.
The strength
of Feedtest is that the laboratory measurements of digestibility for most
common types of feeds are based on rigorous trials with ruminant animals,
together with years of experience in research and extension in the area
of feed quality.

The use of NIR requires continual monitoring and updating of the calibrations
to ensure the best possible information is reported to our clients.
Additional analyses are continually being evaluated for inclusion in the
NIR calibrations as well as some of the more common feedstuffs which currently
do not have calibrations.
Calibration of the NIR technique is also an ongoing process.
Different feeds are progressively being tested using NIR, with additional
analyses being included in the calibrations.
Feedtest has participated in all ten rounds of the AFIA Ring Tests and
will continue to do so in order to ensure provision of the most accurate
information possible to our clients.
Our
Aims
Our aim is to provide a high standard of service
to our clients to enable them to make informed decisions on feeding strategies,
the trading of feed products and improving agronomy to increase quality.
Through
this website Feedtest hopes to further assist clients by providing an
accessible guide to all aspects of quality testing.
We
hope our comprehensive online information
will allow clients to easily collect and submit samples and then accurately
interpret their results.
